2 cups water
1 cup apple juice
3⁄4 Cup Coronado Taste of Oils Gravenstein Green Apple White Balsamic
1⁄2 Cup sugar
1⁄2 Cup Apple Pie Moonshine Whiskey (or Apple Vodka)*
Caramel Sauce &Fleur de Sel
*Apple Pie Moonshine available at Valley Farm Market in Spring Valley
*Apple Vodka available at Trader Joe’s
In a medium pot, add the water, juice, sugar and Coronado Taste of Oils Gravenstein Green Apple White Balsamic.
Bring to a simmer, stirring, until all the sugar is dissolved.
Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Stir in the booze—if using–and pour into a shallow glass pan.
Place into freezer for at least one hour.
Using a fork, scape any ice crystals into the center and place into freezer for another hour.
Scape crystals into center again, and re-freeze.
You should do this 3-4 times, until granita is the consistency of a “slushy”.
To serve, place in glasses, top with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a sprinkle of Fleur de Sel.
